The most striking change to Microsoft Windows Media Player 10, the much-awaited upgrade to the player/jukebox that ships on most new PCs, is its dramatic cosmetic overhaul. Windows Media Player (WMP) no longer feels like a freebie utility thrown in with the OS (think Notepad), but is an application you'll actually want to use. By giving you easy access to all of your multimedia files (music, photos, and video) and helping you accomplish the tasks you're likely to want to do with them, WMP 10 at least equals — and in our estimation surpasses — the current leader in the field, MusicMatch Jukebox 9. | ||

No problems this side, with Mp10 or SP2.
How much additional software do you have installed on your system?? |

| MS warns that if you have unknowlingly installed spyware XPSP2 will fail to install. Suggest that u check for spyware/virus on your computer before blasting MS. |

JeffChapnet: You should have been using the ASR backup. Once you repair the XP installation start using ASR.
You may need to NOT choose repair on the first screen unless you know what files are missing or damaged, but instead choose install and then choose repair on the second screen - this will remove all current system files and freshly reinstall them. If your registry is seen as damaged you may not have the repair option on the second install screen. |

| #6: I helped repair a coworker's home PC the other day. They said it had slowed significantly, was producing pop-ups, etc., and wanted to get it back to normal. I figured spyware, so I ran Ad-Aware on it and anti-virus--several times, actually--to get rid of some stuff their kids had installed (presumably). In the end, there was malware still left untouched and undetected on the system that required manual removal in Safe Mode. I would personally check your processes list and the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run registry key for questionable items that may be preventing SP2 to install correctly. |
