Profits and productivity gains created by the use of email and Web sites may soon be lost, warns renowned security expert Stephen Cobb, who fears consumers will be driven from the Internet by the rising tide of spam and malicious code. Cobb predicts that, without rapid and widespread deployment of improved technology to defeat these threats, 2004 will be the worst year ever for security incidents and privacy breaches. | ||

The Cobb "formula."
First: Foment FUD. Second: put the word Microsoft in the title and liberally throughout an article and publish in the tech press. Third: Yell, "Yipes! The sky is falling, but just buy my book and all will be well." Fourth: Sit back and collect kudos from the ABMers and cash from the book sales. Mr. Self-Promotion. |
