Gates, Ballmer get slight pay raises | |

Microsoft's top executives all saw slight increases in salary and bonus last year, according to the company's annual proxy statement, filed Thursday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. CEO Steve Ballmer and Chairman Bill Gates each received $551,667 in pay and $313,447 in bonus last year, up from $547,500 in salary and $205,810 in bonus a year ago. Jim Allchin, who heads Microsoft's Windows operating system business, received $505,624 in salary and $400,000 in bonus, up from $495,195 and $400,000, respectively, in 2002. Jeff Raikes, who heads the Microsoft Office unit, earned $524,309 in salary and $300,000 in bonus, up from $495,083 and $250,000 a year ago. While Gates and Ballmer received no stock options, other Microsoft executives did: Allchin and Raikes each received 1.3 million options at $23.99 and chief technical officer Craig Mundie was granted 700,000 options at the same price. | ||

Relatively speaking, $551K is a pretty crappy salary for a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, not to mention one of the largest and most profitable company.
Some CEOs make millions. |

| Being the richest man in the world does it really make a difference if Bill makes $551,667 or $4M...he has $46 Billion in the bank. But then again Ballmer "only" has $12.2 Billion, maybe he needs a raise to pass up Mikey Dell at $13B. |

Options at $23.99... stock now at $29.50... That's $7 million for Allchin and Raikes.
I seriously doubt that Gates is concerned about his salary. The salary and bonus is just enough to pay for repainting his house. :-) |

CPUGuy, I know it's assets, but no one is privileged to his full financial assets accept BillG, his wife, and accountant I would guess. I was simply quoting www.forbes.com since it was in the news again recently, and common knowledge. I guess him giving $51.2M in cash to the New York school district wasn't counted in Forbes either http://www.gatesfoundation.org/Education/SmallHighSchools/Announcements/Announce-030917.htm .
As for options, Allchins, $7,683,000 profit this week from his final options grant isn't too bad since MSFT is up $2.50 in the last 10 days. (Yes I know the options take 5 1/2 years to vest, but I don't think Allchin is going anywhere soon) p.s. I do find it funny that the Schools Chancellor for the NY schools is Joel Klein, the former Assistant Attorney General in the antitrust suit against Microsoft. I wonder how he must feel to be benefiting from BillG now. |
