- Intrado has formed an alliance with the Microsoft MapPoint Business Unit, to develop and market operator services that integrate maps, driving directions and other location intelligence into mobile applications for consumer and business users. The first of these services will be Intrado’s IntelliVectorSM , is a suite of applications that integrates MapPoint .NET with network software and systems that enable wireless 9-1-1 and commercial location-based services.
- Action Engine: MapPoint .NET integrates with other applications running on the Action Engine Mobile Web Services Platform and offers smart device users the ability to access business listings, conduct proximity searches for points of interests such as restaurants, hotels and movie theaters, combined with maps, directions, and routing capabilities. With the Action Engine Mobile Web Services Platform, network operators can create, manage and deploy browserless data applications that fully exploit the capabilities of smart devices and operating systems.
- Hewlett Packard Mobile Services Delivery Platform (HP MSDP): HP Debuts MSDP a powerful set of telecommunications software and tools, partner solutions, carrier-grade hardware and integration services. Combined, these elements constitute an integrated environment to incorporate all of an operator’s different mobile services, such as messaging, location and entertainment into user-centric mobile services. MapPoint .NET provides the location component to this platform. Typically, operators have created and deployed new mobile services one at a time, each with its own network and management resources. With HP MSDP, mobile operators can integrate their mobile services into a single platform in which network and management resources are shared, thus minimizing duplication, simplifying management and reducing costs. An important feature of MSDP is interoperability between J2EE and Microsoft® .NET environments. MSDP is founded on the J2EE Web Services middleware standard, and, at the same time, it is designed to communicate with .NET-based services through standard interfaces.
- Clarity Communications, Inc. announced Way-To-Go Navigator™, an affordable Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) navigation system providing location services from a wireless GPS-enabled handset built with MapPoint .NET. With Way-To-Go users obtain turn-by-turn audible instructions, including street names and distances to next maneuver, allowing them to quickly navigate on or off-road. Way-To-Go Navigator, the first release in a series of location services products will evolve over the next several months to include tracking and management, as well as info-tainment capabilities such as “where are my friends”.
