The battle between Sun and Microsoft over inclusion of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in Windows wages on. At stake, according to a U.S. District Court, is the fairness of the fight between Java and .Net. for middleware supremacy. Court documents indicate that unless certain legal measures are taken to level the playing field, Microsoft's monopoly of the Intel-based desktop operating system market--and the distribution channel that monopoly represents--could lead to another monopoly of the middleware market. | ||

#2 - I think you overestimate Flash's capabilities.
Flash no more threatens ASP (or, rather, ASP.NET) than Access threatens SQL Server. They are meant for two very different things. |

| kevinu, I agree with your point of MACR competing with a solid product as opposed to Sun. But your confident in Flash/CF competing with Microsoft's technologies is too much. If it were even remotely possible, Sun would buy MACR. |

On topic, well somewhat anyway, Flash works for the presentation layer, but it is no replacement for the business logic or data layers. It has limited abilities in this area, but the more logical approach for a Flash solution would be to code presentation in Flash with backend business logic and data services in C# (or your .NET of choice). |

| I agree BobSmith. It is EXCELLENT for presenation layer, but only for presentation layer. |
