Ok, found my first problem with SP2...
Norton Antivirus is conflicting with extraction of a zip file. And latest cool thing of the week. COKE C2... half the sugar of regular coke, but still tastes good. :) |

I'm running Panda's stand alone client - Platinum 7 on one system using XP SP2 RC2 and
Panda's network client - Platinum 6, which recieves its updates and configuration via RIS on a W2K3 Domain. Neither has reflected any issues with XP SP2 RC2. Initial attempts to install XP SP2 using Norton AV 2004 resulted in an error. Norton was uninstalled and the SP2 was installed normally. Panda was installed following that w/o error. The Norton/Panda test was on an HP Laptop, and the network client above is a custom system [normal x86 hardware]. A third test system, also a custom system, runs CA's EZ Armor Suite and reflected no errors when installing/running XP SP2 RC1 or RC2 - just to see what would happen, RC2 was installed over RC1 - which failed. RC1 was removed and RC2 installed, normally. |

I have always refused to use McAfee/NAI for an AV solution (home or business), there is just no reason for it. It doesn't catch viruses very well, and I've never been to keen on it after all those interviews with McAfee spreading all of that FUD about Michaelangelo (which led to an FBI investigation).
II normally go with SAV CE for desktops and Windows Servers Sybari for Exchange I don't manage the SQL or SMS boxes over here, so I'm not sure what they are running, I would assume the appropriate agent from Symantec. As for Norton for home use, I really haven't had any issues with it. It seems to catch a larger percentage of viruses than the others do, so why switch? I'll take the performance hit in return for the piece of mind. |
