The main reason why Linux hasn't caught on at home is the same reason OS/2 flopped. No hardware vendor support to speak of. While I use Mandrake 9.0 as a secondary OS, it still doesn't support my Audigy 2, my Intel PC Pocket Camera, USB Visioneer 4800 Flatbed scanner.
Also, many more home users play games, and many of them have not been ported to Unix. Anyone play Warcraft III, SOFII, The Sims, Dungeon Siege, using Linux?
No, not a contender by a long shot for the home user. It is great for wordprocessing, spreadsheets, setting up a small business FTP site, etc... you catch my drift, right? <g>
