| Is that the best FUD they can come up with?? I'd rather the other browsers "diluted" their energies making a superior browser than me having to "dilute" my time between browsing and quashing the latest IE driveby download virus. |

Latch, what are you running? XP? Vista/7 with UAC off? I've never seen a drive-by without approval with UAC enabled.
The Firefox posts by Robert O'Callahan are interesting. It's kind of cool but also telling when he addresses when IE9's performance exceeds FF's--in some cases, he submits code immediately just for that test case. He uses that to claim that FF just isn't slower... but it was significantly a few minutes prior to the specifically-coded fix? How does that bode for real-world tests, then? He makes some good points, but there's a strong element of "protests too much" to it. The comments take him to task, some pointing out that while FF may have many of IE9's claimed advantages in theory, in reality many are quite buggy and not ready for prime time. Some of the patches that he uses as examples won't even be in FF4. |

#2: Depends; XP at work (seriously) and Win7 x64 at home with UAC enabled. I've never been the victim of a DBD but then I haven't used IE to browse the web in many, many years. It must still be an issue as I hear about it regularly.
It's gotten to the point where there is so much politics and polarization that I generally don't read the nonsense. MS just released IE9 and I'm sure it's da bomb but I'm happy with Chrome after booting out FF many months ago. I'm also sure that anything IE does today will be surpassed by the other browsers within the year and MS will have to play catchup again when IE10 comes out in 2-3 years. |

Errr, isn't that the point? One browser innovates, the others copy and innovate a little more, then there is more copying and innovation and catching up and passing. So it goes... It all leads to better products. |
