Latch, what are you running? XP? Vista/7 with UAC off? I've never seen a drive-by without approval with UAC enabled.
The Firefox posts by Robert O'Callahan are interesting. It's kind of cool but also telling when he addresses when IE9's performance exceeds FF's--in some cases, he submits code immediately just for that test case. He uses that to claim that FF just isn't slower... but it was significantly a few minutes prior to the specifically-coded fix? How does that bode for real-world tests, then? He makes some good points, but there's a strong element of "protests too much" to it. The comments take him to task, some pointing out that while FF may have many of IE9's claimed advantages in theory, in reality many are quite buggy and not ready for prime time. Some of the patches that he uses as examples won't even be in FF4.
