Bitmicro has introduced its new E-Disk 3F1 flash-based solid-state disk. The unit, which has no moving parts, is a 3.5-inch drive offering a 77 GB capacity with gigabit dual-port Fibre Channel support.
The E-Disk 3F1 offers up to 9,500 inputs/outputs per second with sustained read and write speeds of 34 MB per second. It has a burst transfer rate of 200 MB per second and 48 ms access time. It incorporates a Fibre Channel Single Connection Attachment 40-pin connector and supports FC-AL-2, FC-PH, Fibre Channel Protocol for SCSI and FC Private Loop Director Attach technical report.
According to Bitmicro, the device can operate in -40 degrees F to 185 degrees F and withstand shocks up to 1,000 Gs while operating. It's hot-swappable and requires no drivers on all common operating systems, including Macintosh, Windows, Linux, Solaris, Irix and others. And iit's available in capacities ranging from 512 MB to 77 GB.
