Jaguar Does Windows--and Then Some | |

I sat down at my Macintosh at home to do some photo editing when I realized the pictures I wanted were on a Windows computer. Although the two machines are just a few feet from each other, moving the files from one to the other would, until recently, have required me to copy the pictures to some sort of removable storage unit, probably a recordable CD. Then plunk that into the Mac. | ||

"I upgraded Macs to Jaguar both from OS 9.1 and older versions of OS X and found it a painless experience, much less scary than most Windows upgrades." Since when were upgrades in Windows scary? With Windows 2000 and Windows XP you answer some questions at the beginning (5 minutes) and walk away. Come back a while later and your computer is waiting for you to login. Wooooo, scary. |

I must say... I think it is a great move to make it so Mac's can talk to PC's like this. I am surprised that Apple would do such a thing when, besides their usual "we're to good for that attitude", there is a whole software market that provides that functionality to the Mac community.
Now if we could only get MS to make it easier to connect to Macintoshes. |

I do appreciate that Apple included MS PPTP support in Jaguar (do you think their implementation also has the recently discovered vulnerability in the MS VPN software on Windows? If so, I hope they've issued a patch...).
The Windows networking support inclusion is a good move for Apple, I think. I'm a bit steamed that they dropped their entire Emagic Windows product line when they bought them, though... play nicely with others one minute, and not the next. Not that no one else is guilty of that, of course. :) But I hope the Apple faithful are capable of recognizing that their fave company is guilty of these practices as well. |

Apple is always getting these kind of free ads(Print, TV, Movies), I often wonder why they can't get past 4% market share?
To me PC's are just better. Damn I even loved DOS. Remember doskey. Ahh DOS :) |

so, v 10.2 is finally getting near the point that its usable. Wow, and only a full friggan year after they thrust v 10 on the unsuspecting public. Apple ABUSES their user base, and those masochists continue to pay for it.
Like I've said before... if you have any pull with your IT department, NOW is the time to make the break from MacOS. I GUARANTEE your IT Manager is already thinking about it... he just needs your prompting. Be a HERO, and END THIS Apple DISEASE! |

| mooresa56 - Once in a while apple comes up with some good ideas(Ipod for example). So I hope they stay around for a long time. As long as they stay at about 2, 3 or 4 percent. |
