Maybe Microsoft is doing to itself what the Justice Department has refused to do -- inject some real competition in the desktop-computing marketplace. Maybe Sun Microsystems is getting ready to see if it can take advantage of the opening. That possibility emerged Tuesday at the Linux World Conference and Expo in San Francisco, where Scott McNealy, Sun's chief executive, delivered a keynote speech and spoke with reporters. He and members of his executive team offered little but hints, but what they did offer was at least interesting. | ||

In fact, this new competition proves that the DOJ's and the States' case is completely bogus.
As I have maintained all along, the problem with MS is that its competitors are lazy and uninnovative. They sit and complain, file law suits and do not improve or release new products. Finally, Sun has realized that if it releases new and interesting products, it might be more sales and compete with Microsoft. Unfortunately, Sun is just picking up the gun and firing at random before they die. We need a countdown clock that counts down the days until IBM buys out Sun. For supreme irony, the clock should be written in Java. |
