Setting Up Your Speakers In Windows 98
Windows 98 can take advantage of your computer's speaker setup (eg. surround sound), but only if you register it via Multimedia settings.
To do so, Go to - START | CONTROL PANEL | MULTIMEDIA. Make sure you are in the Audio section and then click the Advanced Properties button under the Playback heading, you'll then get to an area like the one in the image below. Select the appropriate speaker configuration from the "Speaker setup" list and click on OK.
