FrontPage 2003
Microsoft FrontPage 2003 is Microsoft’s web site creation and management solution. It offers features that allow users to design, code and perhaps even extend their websites. Dynamic web templates are provided to aid users in the creation of websites. There is also an accessibility checking feature that allows users to check that their websites are fully accessible. Three views are provided, the split, code and design view. By making use of all three views, users will be able to see, change and edit their websites with ease. A clean HTML feature is also provided in the software to remove extraneous code on a users’ site. FrontPage 2003 also provides users with the power and extensibility to extend their website’s power and reach. A Remote Site view is provided to ease the movement of files between remote and local locations. A Web import dialog simplifies connection types and at the same time, works with the Secure Sockets Layer. Lastly, a Remote Web Site tab is also provided to aid in the publishing of files to FTP and WebDAV servers. The software added support for much richer templates. I was allowed to create multiple templates, each containing multiple content regions. The templates, according to Microsoft, are also syntax compatible with Macromedia Dreamweaver 4. It means that users can move their Dreamweaver sites to FrontPage 2003 and vice versa. There is also support for Flash content. Importing Flash content is as simple as dragging it into your design area and setting it properties through a dialog box.
