Your adventures take place in the Kingdom of Ehb is one of the youngest states bordering the Plain of Tears. Protected by a ring of superb fortifications and heir to the 10th Legion-arguably one of the best trained armies in the world, the Kingdom of Ehb has, so far, been shielded from the raids and invasions that have devastated many of its neighboring states on the Plain. Within Ehb's borders, there is an astonishing diversity in geography and cultures. Most inhabitants worship Azunai, an ancient god of the pre-Imperial Agallan Peaks. Dwarves and men live together in harmony and bow to the same king. Sorcerers are also more accepted than in other countries, thanks in large part to the efforts of Merik, Grand Mage and Warden of Shadows of the 10th Legion. And in the heart of the kingdom, a strange and often contrary race called the Droog is allowed a degree of autonomy, despite its sometimes-troublesome alliances. | ||

| Considering they only sent a fixed version (CD's didn't work) 2 weeks ago, its not bad going. Some of us sites like to play the games and use applications first ;o) |

It would have got a higher score if the story was better, I personally enjoyed the game...I've marked it down on story and lack of side-quests...Read other reviews I've seen higher marks for the game, I've seen lower marks - none below 85%. I enjoy the game, I play it in multiplayer still.
Doom, Quake etc had basically no story - massive marks, did anyone complain then? |

One note that you might want to put in the review that the graphics are largely dependent on your video card, not the processor. You make a note that it looks great on your Athlon 2100, but you should also note that you have a GeForce 4 which makes the most different.
I have a 1.2 Athlon, but an old TNT2 ultra and I have to set most of the GFX settings to medium or low. Despite this, it's still a beautiful game. #7: A big difference is that Doom, Quake are meant to be hack and slash. Even with that, I think Doom had more store than DS did, at least it was easier to follow and didn't bore me to tears. For an RPG like DS, story makes the game, IMHO. There have been text RPGs for christ's sake! Peope want story. This game is all pretty graphics and hack n' slash which is truly disappointing for an RPG. |

| Daz - I have played most of it on a GeForce 2 - hardly any graphical difference bar being able to get full shadows on the GeForce 4. I unstand that people have different views on the game, as i've said i didn't find it boring at all, repetitive towards the end but lots of fun to me. |

Have to agree I have a geforce 2 mx 200 with sdram. now there is a combination:) But I was able to play the game with full detail until around the gobiln underground where I had to turn down a few grphics to play without stuttering. By the time the castle came up, even with everthing turned down it still had stuttering in some areas. But for me. it didn' t matter what screen resolution it was at, I got the same frame rates so it pointed more to a CPU slow down than a GPU slowdown. Turning off EAD helped out alot also:) Enjoyed the game. little story lots of hack and slash. but has promis on the technology side for furture releases. After Playing NWN, I can say that DS is much better graphically. but NWN wins in the story department. El |
