#2 I don't follow your logic. I resisted XP until all the eveidence showed that the activation scheme in no way released any personal information, nor would it prevent me from installing and using any music/software I deemed I wanted to use.
However,
In the next few weeks I will be building my new computer, and its the first time I've ungraded in 4 years. Besides games, there is no incentive to upgrade my components. My word documents open fast enough, and XP runs fine on my 400MHZ P3. Therefore:
1. I don't care if the interface of Longhorn is all shiny **new** and *****3d***** if it prevents me in any way from doing anything I want to do on my PC besides not let me run another pirated copy of XP(activation already does that) and secondly prevents child porn, and for that matter all porn(some new technology I would LIKE).
If MS decides to implement some-sort of DRM and labels it as a more SECURE platform thanks to their trustworthy computer initative and the DRM prevents me from running any pirated Music or software I want, then I will not upgrade.
While, I purchase all of my software, and own the majority of my music, I believe in my FREEDOM to do whatever I please because its my machine(I bought it and I own the licenses to the software).
I understand the need for music to be made more secure, and software not to be stolen, but preventing the user from certain actions is just blantently counterinutitive because you are limited the user in some big ways and NOT PROVIDING some sort of benifit(besides the peace of mind of knowning that everything on the machine is legit[OF WHAT USE IS THAT???).
A 2.53 GHZ machine
1 GIG of DDR 333 Ram
240 Gigs of Hard drive
Ti 4600 3d Card
Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum
WINXP Pro
Office XP
This hardware configuration is fine and will run everthing, like I said before I am running a 4+ year old rig and it runs FINE for my Office apps and everything I ((need)). I am upgrading now because I ((want)) to!
What incentive is there for you to upgrade????????????????????
What features(besides Virtual Reality) would cause you to seriously upgrade???
