HealthTrio, a leading provider of e-health applications and core business systems for the managed care industry, Microsoft and Unisys today announced the results of a benchmark of HealthTrio xpress, HealthTrio’s core managed care administration system.
The system scalability was tested by real-time emulation of the transaction load of 8,000 simultaneous users working on a plan database of over 4,000,000 members. The benchmark team determined that HealthTrio xpress can easily handle this number of users and members while maintaining sub-second response times. The 8,000 concurrent users were performing transactions that included adding claims, adjudicating claims, performing customer service calls, adding members and modifying members. To further validate the system’s scalability, during the same time period, multiple batch processes were performing an average of 360,000 capitation transactions and 197,200 claims adjudicated per hour.
"We are extremely pleased with the results of this study," said Ralph A. Korpman, M.D., CEO and co-founder of HealthTrio. "The benchmarks captured to date exceed, in many cases dramatically, the known benchmarks and performance results for similar processes within our competitors’ products."
For these scalability tests, the Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Datacenter Server operating system was run on a 32-way Unisys ES7000 enterprise server. Microsoft SQL Server™ 2000 Enterprise Edition provided database functionality. Stress software included Benchmark Factory, a load testing solution that scales throughput to virtually unlimited users, helping to discover the limits of critical environments.
