Semtech, a leading supplier of mixed-signal semiconductors for computers, communications and industrial equipment, today announced that it has signed a contract to supply multiple power management solutions for use in the Xbox video game system from Microsoft.
Semtech, recognized for its leading-edge power solutions for the desktop, notebook and handheld computing industry, will provide several proprietary power management controllers for use in Microsoft's new video gaming system. The company's products are used to provide high-efficiency power conversion and regulation in the game system's high-speed main circuit board. Microsoft plans to debut Xbox in November 2001, with 600,000 to 800,000 units available immediately for purchase.
