The part that cracks me up is that these attorneys seem to think that Microsoft should or does like Sun and vice-versa. When in reality, as we all well know, Sun hates Microsoft as does Microsoft hate Sun with a passion. So what's the problem here? We don't want them to have a major roll because we can't stand them as a competitor? Ooooo, that's illegal, yup it is. NOT!
This case is amazing in that the entire system of justice seems to have forgotten that anti-trust law was written expressly with the purpose of protecting the CONSUMER, not the COMPETITOR. And don't give me this "Well if there's more competition the consumer is better off" junk. That's true of course to a certain extent, however, it doesn't change what is written in the letter of the law. Its time for the law to change you may say? Well thats for an entirely different discussion in and of itself.
I'm still waiting for someone to give me a single shred of evidence that Microsoft has truly HARMED the consumer. Whip it out, I'm all ears... Although after the crap I'll probably take for that statement, I'll not return to this article. :) I'm sure there will be plenty of "They've taken away choices", "They overcharged", "They can charge whatever they want because they are a monopoly", "Windows crashes too much so they hurt me" blah blah blah. Take away Windows tomorrow... just think about it folks, take away EVERY copy of Windows tomorrow... gone, zip, bang. Imagine what would happen... yeah, the company that has helped the world's economy grow and communicate has harmed us all. You betcha.
Oh well, I guess I'll get back to playing my Xbox with my brand new controller that they sent me because my other one got ran over by a bike. Those jerks actually sent me a new controller... ack! Hurting again over here...
