A billion-dollar fine seems appropriate for Microsoft's "The dog ate our server API docs and it will take us YEARS to jot it all down again" BS excuse for thwarting interoperability. Good to see the EU serving up a hot, steaming bowl of rich, creamy justice. Too bad the US can't be bothered, or is too corrupted, to control rogue corporations that wish to exploit everyone and everything around them to maximize their revenues and keep out competition. Too bad Ketchum isn't around to huff & puff about EU Communism or some other such sour grapes. |

I have no issue with the fines except for those stating the MS charged too much. So I invent something that you want to use but I don't want to let you use it. The EU tells me that I have to make it available within a reasonable amount of time. I don't, so I am fined again. Finally I make it available but then they tell me I'm charging too much.
So much for the free market. Maybe the EU should look at companies like SAP. I'm sure there are plenty of violations there. But why should they hurt one of there own when they can stick it to US companies like MS and Google. I wonder if they will make Apple put a browser selection screen on their iPads? |
