One security expert said the company was missing a big opportunity to improve the overall security of Windows PCs. The new operating system will not update non-Microsoft software, said Farzana Rahman, the group program manager for Windows Update, in a blog post. "The wide variety of delivery mechanisms, installation tools, and overall approaches to updates across the full breadth of applications makes it impossible to push all updates through [the Windows Update] mechanism," said Rahman. "As frustrating as this might be, it is also an important part of the ecosystem that we cannot just revisit for the installed base of software." | ||

| I posted about this on the other post last week, but what do you feel about a captcha for comments? We added one for the user registration. |

I am generally not in favor of punishing faithful users especially with some of the captcha tech I have been exposed to. Maybe it's my older eyes but some sites really make it painful.
That said, maybe a capture during account creation or at most during login. I think challenging each post is excessive. It would help to know the nature of these spammers? Does a real person create the account and then unleash their automation to post comments. Is it end-to-end automation or does a physical loser log in and post comments? Is it some combination of all of the above? |

| As a Moderator on another web site, we constantly reveived new member spamers, primarily from certain Asia countries, and had to ban these Spamer Members. We also discussed banning the IP address of the spamers, but thought this might prevent legitamate Members that may have been on the same IP address, from accessing the web site. The banned Spamer issue had to be dealt with on a daily basis, once they began. Just some thoughts. |

| We have been purging the spammers' posts directly from SQL and banning the usernames in our CMS. We have a captcha entered now for when they create an account... I tend to think these SEO link spammers are hand made, rather than machine made. |

It takes long enough to get a post to post without Captcha getting in the way...
Maybe an email verification system for new accounts. |
