| I support MS on this. 'App Store' should not be able to receive a mark. 'Apple App Store' is fine. |

You support someone that successfully trademarked 'Windows' and is now calling the kettle black?
Apple have a case here... the term 'App Store' is associated with Apple: 1. http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en#hl=en&source=hp&biw=1920&bih=911&q=App+Store&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=f&oq=&fp=1&cad=b 2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/App_Store Heck, even Bing says it's so: 3. http://www.bing.com/search?q=App+Store&go=&form=QBLH&filt=all&qs=n&sk=&sc=8-5 Whether they should be allowed or not is another question - but there's little doubt that the term is associated with Apple. |

In related news Facebook wants to trade mark any name "X-Book" to indicate a social web site. So no Butt-Book or MS-Book or Apple-Book or Sports-Book (no, wait, what?).
This is getting a little ridiculous. |

| #2: I believe in agreeing with Microsoft, Latch was condemning the entire practice of trademarking common words/expressions. For him not to call out the Microsoft hypocrisy was simply an oversight. |

| #2,4: I'm not clear on whether or not MS actually has a trademark on 'Windows', or the more specific 'MS Windows' or 'Microsoft Windows' and aren't in the mood to look it up. If, in fact, MS has a trademark specifically on 'Windows' alone then yes, it's blatant hypocrisy for them to be complaining about Apple. |
