Windows alternatives: Chrome OS or Ubuntu? | |

Last week, I spent a few days with a beta version of Chrome OS on a prototype notebook provided by Google. In other words, I lived in the Chrome browser and used Google Apps for about 72 hours. The experience wasn't half bad -- assuming a reliable 24/7 Wi-Fi or 3G connection. | ||

There are good things about the Chrome OS, but what scares me is the cloud.
I've read that this beta laptop won't boot unless connected. Even my smart phone (Android) works without wi-fi. The thought of having all storage on the cloud gives my shivers. As a secondary unit it might work, but it needs to be bootable without a connection. |

There is no choice here, Ubuntu! FTW!
