Microsoft Corp.’s Robbie Bach will retire as head of the division that sells Xbox consoles and mobile-phone software after losing market share to Apple Inc. and Google Inc. in wireless operating systems.
J Allard, senior vice president of design and development in the division, is also leaving, the world’s largest software company said yesterday. Senior Vice President Don Mattrick will keep running the Xbox business and Senior Vice President Andy Lees will head the mobile unit. The division doesn’t need a revamp after the departures, Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s chief executive officer, told reporters in Singapore today.
