If Google Inc. decides to close the door on its search engine in China, it might open a door for Microsoft Corp. The software giant's Bing search engine is among the potential beneficiaries if Google goes ahead with its threat to close its Google.cn site amid a dispute with the Chinese government over censorship. Although Bing has struggled to gain traction in China, Microsoft has already hired away at least three people from Google's China business, after aggressively pursuing them following Google's threat, according to a person familiar with the matter. | ||

| Makes sense. Microsoft and the Chinese Communist government go hand in hand. MS likes to talk about open standards and open formats when it actively thwarts both, and the Chinese gov't talks about its open Internet when it actively censors it. |

This is what Steve Ballmer was referring to when he said "I'm going to f***ing kill Google (in China)!" This will definitely be a huge victory against search foe and arch-nemesis Google. I always had faith that Ballmer didn't throw that chair in vain.
By the way, here are a couple of fun statistics that I just now researched, purely for our own enjoyment: Search Terms: ballmer, chair, "fucking kill" Google reports 10,700 hits Bing reports 1,210 hits Search Term: "google is the most admired company" Google reports 5 hits Bing reports 4 hits Search Term: "microsoft is the most admired company" Google reports 8 hits Bing reports 54 hits |

#2: Microsoft doesn't care where money comes. Ethics are not an issue unless they stand in the way of profits. In 2006 President Hu Jintao of China visited Microsoft before he visited the White House. Nuff said.
