Users of the latest versions of Microsoft's popular MSN Messenger program are vulnerable to computer hackers, the company warned on Wednesday. The "critical" flaw in the Internet-based program, which has millions of users, is the latest serious security flaw to be discovered in a program from the world's dominant software company. Microsoft said hackers could exploit the vulnerability to run their own malicious commands on a user's computer. | ||

Some sites currently work that way, but may not for long. There was an article on ActiveWin about a week ago stating that this method of sign-in would be discontinued due to possible security risks.

Keep in mind that Apache by itself does nothing but serve static web content. That aspect of Microsoft's IIS has not had many security holes, it is rather the added value content. i.e. various ways to create dynamic content.
The similar is true with Apache. While the server itself does not have as many issues, the various modules have had substantial issues. Things such as PHP, etc. But Apache proponents frequently overlook this, and when called on it claim that doesn't count. |
