Snow Leopard lacks security features that are built in to Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7, a noted Mac researcher has said. Dubbed ASLR, for address space layout randomisation, the technology randomly assigns data to memory to make it tougher for attackers to determine the location of critical operating system functions, and thus make it harder for them to craft reliable exploits. | ||

Yet the net effect is I haven't seen an infected Mac in 8 years, yet I get 4-6 dozen Virus/Spyware tickets a month for PC's.

#1: Maybe if you spent as much time securing our network and configuring our user's access as you do on this site, our company would not be going belly-up.
#2: Sounds like it's more of a toy. If it were really a viable option, the CTO would make it a corporate standard. Just sayin'. |

| Higher security =/= fewer exploits. The problem is people saying things like "inherently more secure," "better security," "doesn't have security problems," etc. when those things are NOT true. You can say "it's less secure, but hackers generally ignore it," but you cannot say "it's more secure." |

#9: The number & severity of its holes, the time between patches, and the ease with which seasoned crackers can exploit it as compared to Windows or Linux. |

| #7,10--wow... I'm agreeing with Latch. :P I often think of it as the difference between riding a bike down Main Street vs. driving a tank in Iraq... the tank is obviously much better at resisting attacks, but you'd likely be safer on the bike. You can still get hurt on either, of course. |
