Microsoft is known for its bull-in-a-china shop tactics, but the vendor was actually pushed by the Linux driver project team
to make Monday's historic code submission to the Linux kernel.
The Linux driver project team, a part of the Linux kernel development group, is known for pursuing companies and asking them
if they want their drivers included in the kernel, according to Greg Kroah-Hartman, the Linux driver project lead and a Novell
fellow.

| I find it hard to believe that the Linux kernel devs care about helping MS compete with VMware, or helping MS displace Linux. Then I read that the whole thing was being handled by a guy form Novell, the only top-tier Linux company that MS has on a string. What a coincidence. |

Good point. I too was sure that once the "Church of Linux" excommunicated Novell, that would be the end of Novell and they would go out of business.
How long ago was that? |

| #2: What are you talking about? MS won't let Novell die. They need a "friendly" Linux (that MS can indirectly control) that they can try to scare everyone into using via vague & likely bogus patent threats. Now that the truth has come out, this article is pretty funny. It's trying to portray it as the Linux driver team desperately went crawling to MS for their precious code. The reality is that the Linux Driver chief went looking for MS to inform them of their GPL violations. Too funny, and embarrassing for MS. |
