Microsoft's profits are seriously down, and you don't have to be Warren Buffet to figure out why.

#2 I guess the "Oracle of Omaha" should be called the "Lemming from Omaha" then.
Wikipedia: In March 2009, Buffett stated in a cable television interview that the economy had "fallen off a cliff..."

Bottom Line: It's a recession!!!
Beyond that, the article only makes only two good points out of seven: Lack of Vista sales have hurt Microsoft and the Zune is a non-factor.
I have to call attention to the article link "Wii continues to eat XBOX's lunch". I just don't see it. Our Wii gets played maybe 5 or 6 times a year, while my son's XBOX would be on every day (if he had his way). None of his friends play the Wii.

#4: Don't get caught up in his Deflect-O-Matic. The article was about MS tanking and he's got you arguing about Warren Buffet.

"he's got you arguing about Warren Buffet"
Not any more. I made my point; if he wants to continue critiqueing from his absurd position hes going to have to do it into the wind (which I'm sure he will).

Do either of you baristas actually read the articles?
"and you don't have to be Warren Buffet to figure out why"
I was making fun of his mention of Warren Buffet as some sort of infallible genius.
Didn't you get it?
No sense of humor?
As for substance ... 46 per share down to 36 per share is a 21% drop. Its not a 96% drop like Berkshire Hathaway. Not a bad business if in the midst of a Democrat (who cares if you can afford that mortgage) caused recession profits only drop 21%.

#9: Referencing Buffet does not convey that he's an infallible genius. Nobody is an infallible genius. What it conveys is that he is extremely knowledgeable about the worlds of high finance and the markets, much more so than the average person. I don't care about the article or its subject matter, but I had to warn nk to stop wasting his time with you and your deflection techniques. I'll take a pass on your Democrat rantings too. Tell it to Ketchum; he'll lap it up.

Warren Buffet - net worth dropping like a stone ...
Latch: "he is extremely knowledgeable about the worlds of high finance and the markets"
Not lately.
Microsoft - Profits down 21%
Latch (and other haters) : "Total Disaster"
Conclusion: Latch is a moron.

Netbooks. That's the primary reason. Getting $15 for Windows instead of $45 for a growing share of PCs does cause some pain. Ballmer saw it coming and appears ready to continue to adapt to current economic conditions. Windows 7 Family Pack is a great idea. No doubt some friends will get together and share. Without the Family Pack these same friends will continue to use XP on their PCs. Ballmer is simply bringing back the level of upgrade pricing that moved us in years past to upgrade from Windows 3.0 then to pay for 3.1 and finally Windows for Workgroups 3.11. If the OS is cheap enough people will buy it. At $119 for a single Home Premium upgrade few will buy it. People will pay for value, or they will simply wait until they buy a new PC.
