Is IE8 really fat and slow? | |

Ed Bott: Since IE8 shipped last week, I’ve been following reviews and user feedback closely. A lot of the reactions to Microsoft’s new browser come down to personal preference: Some people like the usability-oriented tweaks Microsoft made, others think the browser is too busy or cluttered. | I was a Chrome fan until I tried IE8. I find it fast and nimble, user friendly, and has some great features. I really like IE8. |

| #2: I agree! In fact, I am surprised just how fast it is. Although I believe Chrome is still faster, IE 8 has significantly closed the gap. |

Got to admit I prefer it for browsing on Windows over any of the others - still don't feel it can touch Safari or Chrome for speed on mac or windows. | Switched back from Firefox to IE8. Our websites are already seeing the migration as well. IE8 won't get a big boost in share until it is part of Microsoft Update. Word is getting out that this version is great. |
