Why do you use a Windows PC? | |

I’ve heard different people give different reasons. Is it the choice of applications and hardware? Or is it the “bang for the buck” you get? Or how about that it works in a familiar way? | Andre, you young whippersnapper! You used Windows 95 in high school, eh? We used bamboo slide rules in high school and loved it. If we didn't, the teacher would kick our asses. |

| We had Apple ]['s in high school as well as TRS-80's with cassette tape storage. The Macs were just starting to come out. Then they brought in a Corvus Constellation network system for the Apples. It didn't take us long to figure out all the passwords were stored in memory in plain text, and the master password was the first in the list. Fun ensued. Those were the days. |

| LOL, too bad bob, it was a nice period for me, learning to use Office and clicking the Start menu and putting icons on the desktop. Very simple time in my life. |

I use a Windows PC, because it is fun and there are so many different choices available for it among hardware, software, peripherals and services - and... despite these many choices, there is an amazing consistency opposite drivers, driver models, development tools and the myriad of services and devices using different technologies I cannot connect to and interact with.
So whether it is by choice, or out of necessity, using a Windows PC provides for the greatest probability that I can do what I want, or need to. No other platform can claim the same. |

| #1 I still use my slide rule for engineering calculations. They can pry it from my hand after I die. |
