Nearly 80 percent of businesses have Macs in-house; it's to your advantage to understand how to add them to your network safely and effectively. One of IT's key roles is client management, which is all about defining or controlling many aspects of how users' computers function. This can include restricting access to specific applications or Web sites, configuring auto-update policies, securing various parts of the file system, and setting various display preferences or log-in scripts. This is all done with an eye to easing PC setup and deployment, increasing security and ensuring compliance with internal policies or legal regulations. | ||

"Nearly 80 per cent of businesses have Macs" ?????
I've worked in the Australian and New Zealand IT Industry for over 20 years... performing contract and SLA work for thousands of businesses and only ONE business had Macs, 4 of them. Surely this 80% figure is um, "rather high" ?? |

| Actually, to add to my above comment... I an currently working in Sydney full-time for an international business. Its HQ is in Germany and this business is literally all around the world with thousands of PCs and not a Mac anywhere. |

Actually, to add to my above comment... I currently work in Sydney, full-time for a very large international business.
Our HQ are in Germany and this business is literally all around the world (over 100 offices in nearly as many countries) with thousands of PCs but no Mac's to be found anywhere. The statistical samplingly to provide averaged figures is meant to be around the 1200 mark... we easily have more than 1200 PCs, so that 80% is WAY off. |

They said that 80% of businesses have at least SOME Mac's in house.
From the companies that I've worked in, including the current one, this is probably accurate. The graphic designers mostly use Mac's and there are always Mac's involved with all web based application testing. |
