REDMOND, Wash.--At Microsoft's TechFest, it takes a little imagination to see how the research technologies might eventually come to market. A new video from Microsoft shows in an elegant, if utopian way, what it might look like if all of those gadgets came together several years hence. Earlier on Friday, Microsoft Business Division President Stephen Elop showed the video in a speech at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business. | ||

As usual MS shows technologies and Ui that polverize competitors but..... these technologies are never released as they were portreited therefore the impact on people perception is, to say the least, limited.
A real pity.... |

http://www.istartedsomething.com/20090228/microsoft-office-labs-vision-2019-video/ I really cannot understand why MS could not offer the portraited GUI as an alternative to current one; overall I like W7 a lot, taskbar concept included, but the GUI looks and it is .... dated. The OS comes with a "classic" GUI scheme, they could add the one shown in the video and people, some of them at least, would begin to play with it and get accustomed to. Even better: make it only available to buyers of the "Ultimate" Edition; people who likes to experiment would have something to play with and MS a further stream of revenues. |
