Novell's Mono team continues to improve its "Microsoft Silverlight on Linux" story, now with the release of Moonlight 1.0, an open-source implementation of Microsoft's Silverlight rich media technology for the Web, as CNET reports. It's a major upgrade to Moonlight and brings it closer to parity with Microsoft's Silverlight. Novell's Miguel de Icaza, the developer behind Mono and Moonlight, relied heavily on working in partnership with Microsoft to deliver the upgrade. | ||

| Well, there are lots of problems with Moonlight and the article has nailed a few of them. The biggest is that there isn't a lot of Silverlight content to begin with. Not too many Linux users go to microsoft.com that much, so what's to be gained by installing Moonlight again? And then, even if you install it, because of MS's anti-Linux fetish (I loved that line from the article), the content won't actually work because Moonlight is purposely made to be inferior. I personally know many Linux users and none of them have Moonlight nor do they care one bit. |

#2: Considering the ratio of Windows user to Linux users, the 3 Linux users I personally know constitute "many". If I meet 2 more, I will consider them a "plethora". Plus, one of them is a Slackware user, so that counts as 1.5 Linux users due to his hardcoreness.
