Thanks to the depth of coverage given to Microsoft's "Windows, Not Walls" advertising campaign, Apple has come forward with its own ads addressing the palaver.

Microsoft is thinking of taking Apple's advice.
They plan to retroactively charge 129$ for Vista SP1 and XP Sp3. They think Vista SP2 will also cost 129$. And Vista or XP on a laptop will probably cost 479$. All that extra money will go to Steve in backdated options. (Ballmer that is) |

I think Microsoft mentioning the V word, Victory, would just be kind of crass. I mean, Apple's dismal ability to get people to buy their computers is legion. Just this quarter, announced today, they sold a little over two million computers. That's what? About a day's worth of computers sold with Windows installed on them. Hello? Maybe crapple ought to stop trying to denigrate their betters and concentrate on putting out a product that people will actually buy.
Meanwhile, I have to maintain a couple of friggin iMacs. The pre-Intel based one has been in the shop three times and the more recent one we had to shell out $129 to get what was equivalent of a service pack for it a couple of months ago. The latter is glacier like and the former is OK, but hey who cares. It hardly runs anything. And, isn't that the point of an OS? |
