Intel Corporation has accelerated the Intel® Xeon™ processor for two-way server and workstation platforms to 2.4 gigahertz (GHz). Featuring 512 kilobyte (KB) of level two cache and built on Intel's industry-leading 0.13-micron process technology, the Intel Xeon processor is the first dual-capable processor to be produced on 300 mm wafers. The combination of larger wafers and smaller die size will lower manufacturing costs and raise output. "Intel Xeon processor-based platforms offer customers the top of the line in terms of scalability, performance and value," said Mike Fister, senior vice president and general manager for Intel's Enterprise Platforms Group. The Intel Xeon processor with 512 KB level two Advanced Transfer Cache is priced at $615 in 1,000-unit quantities for 2.4 GHz. | ||
