Microsoft profits miss Wall Street estimates | |

Todd Bishop: Microsoft today reported fourth-quarter profits of 46 cents a share, just short of Wall Street expectations, and trimmed its earnings forecast for the full fiscal year.

It always amazes me how many people put faith in Wall Street's "expectations" and estimates... so Microsoft misses these guessitmates by 1 cent... wow! the end of the world is nigh!!!
Google missed them even more than Microsoft. Surely the only people that KNOW THE FACTS are Microsoft's and Google's financial teams... not some pleb sitting in an office? Why do people put so much faith in these guessitmates?? |

bluerex, whats even better is that they did NOT miss their own estimates. They missed the estimates of the analysts.
But this is the same for every company. Crazy, but consistent. Personally, I don't put any faith in them... but perhaps its that the MSM has the [insert consensus estimate] in their templates, and damn it if they will break from form. |

| They missed the upper end of their own "upwardly" adjusted guidance. As their third quarter closed, they adjusted guidance "up" and hit in the range they estimated. They bought more search related property and that division's reporting reflected it. The added costs of the buys fueled stories of (losses) in that division. It's inflamatory, because the investments are part of the company's stated plans and strategies. Wall Street, like twitter-iffic kids, expect immediate results based upon minimal effort. |

is there a firefox plugin that would allow me to never see latch's comments?
If so, I will consider switching to that browser. ;-) |
