If it'll run Vista, it'll run Win7... but who really cares - its three years away, who knows what will happen with PCs in that time.
Back in reality, honestly, how can InfoWorld/Sentinel POSSIBLY even consider such an appalling piece of crapware?!?!? Are they Microsoft? Are they the Microsoft programmers working on Win7? How can they even consider posting this crap... |

As has been said before here and elsewhere, no PC should have received Vista Capable stickers with less then 1-GB of RAM. 2-GB would have made them Vista Ready. Win7 will have the same requirements or higher, and had best be 64-bit to allow cheap (in two years) DDR3 RAM to be installed to the limit of the motherboard. Will Microsoft cave in again to the big OEMs and authorize the big OEM's to ship underpowered Win7 Ready machines? Sure they will, to some extent. They always have. The best predictor of future actions are past actions.
#2: It's release is less than two years away. As has been the case for 20+ years "everyone" wants the next MS OS as the current one is, and has never been, quite what they expected. |

| I installed Vista Basic on my old laptop, bought 2002, and it ran fine with 512mb of ram. Don't know why everyone is complained. Vista Capable, means to me that it could run Vista, it may nut run all the bells and glamor, but it will run fine. |

#3, very sober analysis - and strongly reflects bobs has had a screwdriver in his hands for a long time.... turning it perhaps as he's thinking... "now how can I make this thing run well enough to make the guy/gal happy"
We went so far as to say: "This is our spec and we're sticking to it; you can go above it, but not below it." We did that for 9x, NT, 2K, XP and or course, Vista. Me, which I liked rather a lot, was absolutely easy to make run well... provided one planned for it and built for it. As always... no surprises, just testing, planning and executing according to a reasonable design devoid of cruft. Oh... de-crufting XP based computers post 2001 DoJ settlement, kept many employees busy for years. |
