Hot on the heels of the humble Windows 7 Milestone 1 review at Neowin yesterday, an anonymous commenter appropriately named “MSBob” on this blog who appears as a Microsoft insider has wrote a fairly extensive There’s a lot of detail from the design of Windows 7, to the development teams, Windows Live integration strategies and of course the man, the legend, Steven Sinofsky who’s influencing the release cycles of Windows. And don’t forget Calculator, Paint and Notepad.

I whole-heartedly disagree. They should ask US what is useful and not guess at it for us. For one thing, WP is a great little 'clipboard' to dump pictures in to as you collect them from the web for inclusion into later documents. Speaking of which, it's about time Windows got a system-wide multi-clipboard, and the ability to have a 'save' feature for screen/window snapshots. Yes, I know about the Vista Utility, but a simple grab of the active window and then having a save button come up would be greatly useful. At least to me. Other than that, interesting info! TL |

#1: Depending on your version of Office, it may have come with OneNote which has a fairly good screen capture utility. It's certainly a step up from Wordpad.

In all honesty they should fix vista first..another OS so soon?
I mean phuck..what does buying vista ultimate get you? where are the vista ultimate extras? and why isn't every version if vista "ultimate"? ahh..yes..on vista ultimate I can make my desktop be a moving image and not just a static image...great my life is complete also why can't I have the "cube" native to the OS..why do I need to install some third party crap ware to able to manage my desktop? I have a core 2 duo lappy and vista feel sluggish..it doesn't "snap" my younger brother installed ubuntuu and hasn't look at windows screen since my girl just bought a mac book and now she feel "safer"..and is now looking to sell her Zune that I bought her because there is no mac software for it </rant> This post was edited by RedHook on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at 11:37. |

RedHook: 3 years isn't so soon as one might think to release a Vista descendant unless one only considers the almost 6 year span between XP and Vista. Windows 95 came out in 1995, Windows 98 in 1998; 98SE in 1999, Me and 2000 in 2000, and XP in 2001. There was an average of one year between the four (or five) Windows releases from 98 up to and including XP. By comparison three years is a long time.
