Internal Microsoft IE 8 build passes the Acid standards test | |

The beta timing and Acid2 compliance were the only two news nuggets that Hachamovitch was willing to discuss with me around IE 8. I asked him when Microsoft is planning to ship the final IE 8 release; what other features IE 8 will include; whether IE 8 will work with XP or be Vista only; whether Microsoft plans to make non-public test builds of IE 8 available to select testers outside of Microsoft in early 2008; and whether Silverlight, Microsoft’s Flash-like player that is currently a browser add-on will be bundled with the final IE 8 release. Hachamovitch declined to comment on any of these things. | ||

"In the IE blog posting, Hachamovitch reiterated the Windows client chief Steven Sinofsky’s line that Microsoft is dialing back on transparency for the good of the customer".
Comments like the one above are the kind of bogus PR statements from MS that get my blood boiling. "For the good of the customer", my ass. They should just say. "We're keeping quiet so we don't get sued more". This post was edited by bobsireno on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 16:34. |

| thats a dumb ass statement, they arent trying not to get sued their trying not to put expectations out their that are going to end up disappointing consumers like with vista... or saying dates etc that slip by and piss off consumers, so they are keeping hush thats simple and exactly what he said in his blog |

| #2: I think Microsoft is keenly aware of European Union desires to take them down a peg. Anything, especially comments, to keep away from court is in MS's best interest, not their customers interests. You are entitled to disagree, and be wrong, although your comment is not necessarily dumb-assed. |
