Byron has just informed me that he is waiting in line for his iPhone over in the UK today. He said the lines are minimal (about 15-75 per store) and each Apple store has at least 250 units. | ||

so each store has 250 units and there are less then 100 people in line. So i have to ask the question - why wait in line?
that being said i finally got to play around with iPhone a couple of week ago and it was pretty neat except for the smeary finger marks on the front constantly. I was surprised how heavy it felt and how big it really was though. Personally, it wasn't for me but I see why the gadget freaks and mac lemmings love it. I needed to replace my cell and wanted to get rid of my PDA so i went with an HTC Touch because i need it to integrate with Exchange. Plus they don't have the iPhone in Canada unless you use a hacked one. So now I have the smeary front phone too. |

#2: few weeks ago I went in an Apple store to see, just out of curiosity, the IPhone and I was surprised because I felt it was very thin and light; is not it amazing how impressions can differ?
Btw how is the Touch? I am waiting for the Touch Dual that I ordered for the same exact reasons you mentioned so I am curious. TIA |

early reports are that Byron suffered a minor head injury whilst showering recently... he awoken with a sudden urge to by an iPhone - among other oddities his family is quietly coming to grips with.
Family members, shaking their heads... have been heard muttering: "I just can't believe Byron would turn away from secure, through the air active sync and Direct Push in favor of IMAP, or POP... it just doesn't make any sense." Byron's Mum was heard saying: "We don't care what our boy does, or is... we love him just the same." |

I really like the touch. I don't write a lot of emails or edit stuff on my PDA so I am fine with the touch keyboard. If you are used to windows Mobile and like it then you will like the phone. I did set it up to pull the email from my exchange server using Outlook Mobile access and that all works great. I mostly used my PDA to carry client documents and information with me so it was nice to go to one device instead of carrying a phone and a PDA. If you are a heavy email writer then i can see why you would go with a device with a physical keyboard. I have read there are some thrid party touch keyboards that work better than the built in one so I am going to give them a try to see if they are any better but it is not a huge concern for me. To me the Iphone is a great device for multimedia or other uses but not as a business device. If you are a business user and want to connect to exchange/outlook you would be looking at a device like the Touch or a Blackberry. Plus with a WM device you get the ability to customize and add a huge number of 3rd party apps. This post was edited by kaikara on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 18:28. |

#8 Thanks; although I like the IPhone concept I will stick with MS devices, at least for the time being. I use the Smartphone/PDA as a replacement for my old Filofax agenda and on the phone I write mostly SMS and few emails so the touch keyboard is fine.
Personally even Outlook 2007 is still not as good as the Filofax but the ability to keep everything in sysnc among desktop, laptop and telephone is the main reason why I dropped my paper agenda. |
