Zune vs. iPod specification smackdown | |

The new Zunes are official so let's get to it: a spec-by-spec scrap between Redmond's new Zunes and Cupertino's formidable iPod foe. Unfortunately, Microsoft failed to mention the all important battery performance of their new gear in addition to a few other minor details. Microsoft fans will tell you that's due to an iPhone-like surprise close to the November launch while haters will jump to the conclusion that this is a definite sign of trouble. Still even without that morsel, there's plenty of data to masticate for comparison. | ||

Drumming up hits via sensationalism, misrepresentation, and/or slang.
Since it's Engadget, I'm suprised they didn't have a post entitled, "Microsoft drops Zune 2", making some readers do a double-take as they figure out "drops" == "releases". Though I suppose we'll see that very headline around November 13 which is supposedly the date of retail availability. |

| I fail to see how with the Ipod having a dominate market share how Microsoft can price the Zune2 at $249 also |

| Because if you price it lower it devalues the brand compared to iPod. Price it the same and you tell the consumer that this is every bit as good as an iPod. |

| #4: How right you are! And if there is anything Microsoft knows tons about, it is marketing. And is often the case in marketing, what works doesn't have to make logical sense, it just has to work. :-) |
