Price cut broadens gap between PS3 and Xbox 360 in terms of value for money. Dan Cornelius, UK marketing manager for Xbox 360, has revealed to MCV that the new lower price point for the Xbox 360 family of consoles puts it in a very strong and position this Christmas. Speaking of the new £179.99 price point for the Core model, Cornelius told MCV: "From a strategic point of view, this price point gives us an entry level that broadens our consumer base. If you look at the PS3, it's quite a lot of money for your average family." Cornelius also criticised Sony for forcing consumers to "foot a huge bill for technology they don't need". Now able to compete directly with the Wii in terms of price point, Cornelius is confident a new audience for the Xbox 360 will come, but admits that "Wii is tapping into a different consumer".
