Skype has finished its sleuthing and is ready to report on the conditions which led to the company discovering a flaw in its P2P networking code. The culprit? It turns out that Skype's code wasn't prepared for a massive restart of PCs caused by the standard Windows patching process. | ||

So ... Skype couldn't handle all the PC's turning on in the morning either?
I call bullsh*t. "computers across the globe within a very short timeframe" Really? Windows update occurs by default at 3am local time. I call double bullsh*t. |

Oh i have Bioshock preloaded and ready to go on steam - I played the demo on the 360 but I still need a keyboard and mouse for my FPS. Xbox is for sports/arcade/racing games for me. That's interesting...
I just bought the Amazon Elite bundle (Elite Console, HD DVD player and 7 HD DVD's) for $600. Got it all hooked up Friday. I finally broke down and got one because, for the most part, I AM SICK AND TIRED OF PC GAMING! I'm tired of the never ending upgrade cycles. I'm tired of the $600 video cards. I'm tired of all the bugs. I'm tired of all the CTD's. I'm tired of the rat-race. I will always keep one High-end PC for my Racing Simulators. They simply cannot be duplicated on a Console, and I doubt the Console will ever have the horsepower to run a true racing simulator. Note I am NOT talking about arcade games, like ridge runner, need for speed, burnout, etc... I'm talking about real Racing SIMULATORS. I'm not a fan of FPS games, but Bioshock is one cool game. The immersion factor is something I haven't seen since MYST. TL |

Oh, and there's just something nice about being able to kick back on the couch in front of a 50" HD and Dolby 5.1 and gaming.
I sit at a PC all damned day long, and it's just so much more enjoyable to get away from it and be comfortable gaming for a change. TL |

#7, Your post here defines exactly why gaming on the PC is losing ground to the consoles - it's all about the experience.
I wrote about that here a few times and used some examples of how we restore the PC Gaming experience - and make PC's like appliances that one may simply switch on and off with a remote and how we remote [via UWB] the PC side of things to a suitable "head" for more up close and personal computing. I assess you are most correct and that PC makers really need to focus on these issues - as does Microsoft. It angers and frustrates me that they do not. |

| I love sitting in front of of my 50" TV to game and I agree it is generally the better experience when you compare PC and console gaming. But I cannot get used to a controller for FPS. There is nothing like a keyboard/mouse for it and I won't buy a fps for the 360 for that reason. Maybe I just haven't put in enough time with it. It will be interesting to see when Halo 3 comes out and there are multiplayer with console and PCers all together who gets smoked. |

| Tech, Forza 2 is pretty comparable to GTR in the physics and sim department. I recommend it. |
