EU slaps Intel with formal antitrust charges | |

As suspected, the European Union formally lodged antitrust charges against Intel, accusing the CPU maker of using illegal methods to compete against its main rival AMD. "I can confirm the statement of objections has been sent," European Commission spokesperson Ton Van Lierop said in a statement given to Reuters. This action represents the culmination of years of antitrust investigation by the EU—and is likely beginning of a very unpleasant experience for Intel. While the exact Statement of Objection (SO) has not yet been made public, the EU charges that Intel used illegal methods to coerce OEM computer manufacturers to ship systems with Intel rather than AMD processors. | ||

Another day another bogus EU antitrust charge against an American company who's only "crime" is that they are too successful.
Still no EU antitrust charges against AirBus . . . Oh! Wait a minute - they are an EU based company. Meanwhile, EU, the "country" who's member countries have refused to ratify its constitution. Why, because it may mean MORE competition. Don't believe me? Ask the French why they turned it down. |

You and lketchum should start your own anti-EU blog, you really should. You both have just about as much hate to throw around with just as little fact to back any of it up.
Hmm, if only the EU was responsible for antitrust charges against non-US companies... then I could prove you completely wrong, completely factually wrong and show that you're doing nothing but spreading hatred and lies... but where would one find such information? Does it even exist? #2, nearly all of these "Violators" did the unthinkable... they invested very heavily in the U.S., stock market - pulling money out of EU based exchanges and drawing the attention of the EU's anti-trust committee. This of course makes them not at all unique.... millions of other have done the same thing - because the US markets, still largely free of socialism [though that is changing <sadly>], are still the best place for people and business to invest in.
Listen, I know our system is far from perfect, but it does have a record of improving life for a larger number of people [who are willing to work hard]. Give that some thought. |
