We've been testing the iPhone for a few days now, and while it's still too early to reveal the full results of our testing, we feel compelled to note that the iPhone and Windows Vista do not always play well together. If you're heading out to pick up an iPhone and you're a Windows Vista user, be prepared to wrestle with your computer. | ||

| I run XP in Boot Camp (and through Parallels) on my MacBook. I was considering picking up a copy of Vista just to have the latest and greatest Windows installed but now I have no interest. Between all the complaints online, the mediocre reviews and the anecdotal stories from friends and co-workers, I'll be waiting a bit longer. Was it just not quite ready but the pressure was there to release it? What would another 6-12 months of dev time have turned out instead? Unfortunately everything is mostly hearsay because I've only found one guy who has upgraded. And he only did it because he got a free copy through his university. |

| Mr. Roper: Getting an OEM copy of Vista and loading it on your Mac would be fun, as long as you have 2-GB of RAM. Upping the MacBook RAM shouldn't take long. NewEgg currently has great prices on DDR2-667 SO-DIMMS. I put 2-GB in my Mac-Mini which turned it into a far more responsive Windows machine for only $85. Vista is just fine as long as you aren't using too little RAM or an outdated chipset. A Vista MacBook should run fine since Apple supplies the Vista drivers. |

| I have 2GB in it now. Perhaps I will still give it shot. Lately though I've only been using XP to play Civ IV. I suppose if Vista was there I'd be tempted to poke around more in Windows though. |

makes you wonder if apple does any QA testing anymore.
or maybe the conspiracy theorists think msft purposefully did this upon vista's release 7 months ago. |

#5, Apple writes applications for Windows XP and then does a half-assed port to Windows Vista - w/o much modification, or Q&A.
It appears, that in Apple's mind, if their apps break on Vista, all the better - they can continue to add to that which is presenting that Vista is flawed and beyond hope or recovery. Apple absolutely cannot have Vista succeed and present itself alongside OS X - where OS X would appear less compelling visually and certainly, functionally. In my opinion, Apple does this intentionally - which is really, really stupid, I might add - as the inertia will change and like most companies that square off with Microsoft, Apple will beat itself, again! |
