I know you've heard this before - but a new firm has offered to take over the development of the new activewin/activexbox/anetforums and the dirty work will begin soon. One of our most vocal community members, Lloyd Ketchum, of Liberating Technologies" will be leading the effort. We already have moved ActiveWin to an upgraded, more powerful server in anticipation of the new site. In any case, we have a long list of new features already planned but we wanted to reach out to the community and see if you have any features you'd like to see. Now is the time to speak up. #4, Rig of the month, might be cool - but unless we'd also have some guy of the month [not gonna happen (not from our VSS in any case)], the lady Awin'ers would have a legit gripe - so I think the guys running the show would scratch that one. Now, if your rig has a lady on it, well...that'd be perfectly fine, I think.
#3, We actually chased, found and fixed quite a few of those, but moved onto the new site work - favoring it as the direction, since the guys wanted to go that way as soon as possible. |

just typed suggestions for 5 minutes, then got logged out. All was lost. so now you get the much shorter re-typed list...
here's the ones i remember from my stream of conscienceness... - cookie-based (at least 24-hour expiring) auto-login - telerik rad editor, or other brand. - more cow bell - favicon.ico that is the actual Activewin logo - paypal donate button beside latch's posts. coffee beans aint cheap, you know. - full content rss feed - auto-replace curse words with *&$#@ - auto-replace latch's posts with "blah blah blah" - automatically make sodablue's posts bold and larger type, because he's just so swell - what about an Activewin links blog? similar to what scoble does - Clean up the old old old stuff on the site. just in my current scrolled view of AW, I see a link to the viva pinata "latest review". Jeez, that game has to be 2 years old now. And I dont dare ask whats behind that "IE 5 FAQ" link now excuse me as i hilight this post, copy it, hit the POST button and pray I don't have to try this a third time. #6 yeah with the site engine being over 5 years old now getting things like the "latest review" bits and pieces have to updated by hand and most of us never had the time to do it so moving all that to automated stuff will help no end. #5 - Desktop and rig of the month might be a good idea...always like the idea of a daily tip mention on the site too..was in my last never used redesign. http://www.byronhinson.com/windowssite/ if anyone wants to see it - now 2 years old! |

The new app does have an "Expire on" feature with a date control as well as a graphical way to move stories all over - [up, down for example] - this way, there is more than a global retire after XX/XX/XXXX default - so popular stories may be more easily kept. After items retire, they go to month/year archives with a very broad search tool and personal tags that may be used to find stuff. |
