Microsoft also seemed to announce that Windows Mail is now dead. Windows Mail, the built-in Vista mail client, is going to be superseded by Windows Live Mail — which is not the same thing as Windows Live Hotmail. Windows Live Mail is (I think) a product formerly known as Windows Live Mail Desktop. (Windows Live Mail is still in beta, I believe.) | ||

It's not that Windows Mail is "dead"... it's just never going to be improved signficantly. Really the only reason it's there at all, is that people moving from XP expect there to still be a mail&news client in the OS.
So why don't they make Windows Mail able to connect to Live Mail? Or simply make the WLM/Desktop application part of Windows itself? Because they'd get sued for illegal bundling. Gotta love the trustbusters. |
