The year 2006 is slowly drawing to a close. Waving goodbye to all the games behind us, we are gradually making room for the onslaught of next-generation gaming technologies. Accordingly, terms like Unreal 3 engine, GeForce 8800, Xbox 360, Wii and PS3 come to mind. It's patently obvious that next-generation consoles continue to dominate the industry. So, while the world's top electronic entertainment companies are holding their breath for public feedback on their new-fangled consoles, PC gamers are also looking towards a bright future. (We get branded as well! Wait, is that a good thing? Ed) The following year will mark a new beginning for PC owners, as it opens the doors to Microsoft's upcoming OS, Windows Vista. | ||

Well, if my experience with the RTM of Vista is anything to go by, gamers can expect to be using Windows XP!... Or face screen corruption and random computer resets (no BSOD, just soft reset!). | I ran vista RC2 build 5744 64bit and it was rock solid. Never crashed and never locked up. Ran for 6 days solid of heavy use with no problems. The only reason it did reboot was due to a power outage. Very solid OS. |

i had troubles on my machine with vista and one or two games i was running.
i suspect that hard core gamers will run xp until dx10 games start to show up and then run dual boot systems. |

| The nvidia drivers are garbage, that's a fact. Nothing looks right and scaling on TV output looks like trash. However, as far as stability, my media center has been up since I loaded Ultimate on it the evening of the 12th and my main computer hasn't had a single problem so far either. |
