Legal experts describe Sun Microsystems' lawsuit against Microsoft as very aggressive and expansive, going well beyond anything pursued by federal and state trustbusters. And in many important respects, they say, the suit could be tough to win in its current form. Sun filed the private antitrust lawsuit with a California federal court on Friday, seeking damages that could exceed $1 billion. The Palo Alto, Calif.-based company also wants injunctions forcing Microsoft to carry Sun's own version of Java in its Windows XP and Internet Explorer software, to give away the source code--or blueprint--for IE and to disclose the application programming interfaces (APIs) developers use to write software for Windows. | ||

Duh!
Anyhow, it's interesting that Sun thinks its it's god-given right to have a JVM on Windows XP, even though every other company has to pay to get their plug-ins in Windows. Maybe MS should counter-sue to get Sun to distribute IE with Solaris. That'd be a hoot! |

Even if they won the full Billion bucks, it would only prolong their death by 6 months. Heck, they lost ~$450,000,000 in the last 3 months alone.
Pay them Bill... just for the hell of it. |
