#1, We've used it a good bit, and it essentially provides a good interface on what one can as easily do in the CLI. We also use ethereal, and the TCP/IP Toolkit to understand traffic and, or repair XP systems that are just trashed. Be careful when using the tweaks in XP Smoker [if you decide to] - it uses a restart point only, to back out the substantive changes it makes. Also, please have a very complete understanding opposite services and their dependencies, before getting too deep into it.
The freeware TCP/IP repair tool is great for quickly fixing system that reflect what appear to be unsolvable connectivity issues.
